some corals dont need to be fed, light alone is the food. if the system is set up correctly outside feeding should be minimal for the corals that do need to be fed. if thats the case, some sps/lps can be dosed phyto, some lps hand fed. all depends on the genus of both.

I used to never specifically feed my corals (mostly softies with some frogspawn)...was told long ago that there was enough stuff in water column to keep them fed.

But started adding a little dose of freezedried phyto and zooplankton every day or so, and they appear to be much "happier" and growing faster.

I just started to grow my own phytoplankton tonight. Got the original cultures etc. from Florida Aqua Farms. It's pretty simple and I can keep cutting it every week to make more. Tons cheaper than buying it!

    First Feeding

Well I have had some success! My phyto has grown nicely over the week. I split one and have started some rotifers tonight. I fed my home grown Phyto for the first time tonight. Question though how much should I be feeding. I think I read somewhere that the concentration might be lower that DTs. Any suggestions on how much how often? I've got a lot of zos, brains, 1 big clam sun polyps, leathers, gorgonia, candy cane, frog spawn.
