I have seen a lot of post lately that are my water parameters are good and I only feed everyother or every 2 days something along those lines, and it is usually when they have an algae problem or something.

Through everything I have read, and observed, I would think that fish need to eat at least once daily, my take on it is that fish feed constantly in the wild and would probably be stressed since they cannot find food.

Where do people get the suggestion feeding every few days?

I feed every other day in my tank..It helps keep nitrates down for one..

But i do it for that reason and just to conserve food for as long as possible..I have been doing it since day one..No problems.

i have an abundant ammount of caulerpa in my 55 gallon. i keep it trimmed as much as possible, so this keeps my nitrates down a lot. i feed everyday when i get new arrivals. and when i have smaller fish (new borns) in my tanks.

Depends if there is food in your tank for the fish to graze on the days you don't feed them. Personally, I like to eat every day. ;)

The only reasons why I've ever heard for anyone feeding less than daily is to keep nitrates down, which to me means you either need to fix the filtering by getting more rock or flow or carbon etc or you just are overstocked imo. There are very few fish that actually would eat less than daily in the wild.

I feel bad not feeding them once a day. I feel its the lazy way out of not doing water changes as often as you should.

LR and carbon does nothing to reduce nitrates. Flow indirectly does, yes.
