So I have a star fish (oreastor reticulatus, I believe) in my non-reef tank at work. How often, how much, and what would everyone recommend I feed it?

I have just given it a pretty big chunk of raw shrimp from the grocery store that it is currently munching on. I assume that should hold him for a while. He seems to be digging it.

Usually they are able to scavenge food themselves without being directly fed. If there are other fish/creatures in the tank, it probably gets food when you feed them, and from the detritus that builds up. If not, I would feed once every couple of days, depending on how much food you give it.

Just feed every so often if you want to. If the tank is mature it should be able to feed itself, but even so it might like one or two feedings a week.
