do not feed it. Fish andshrimp dont eat cooked food. changes everything about it. Harlequin shrimp enjoy choc chip starfish the best. give em one a month to keep em happy.

I agree, don't feed it. It's never worth the risk when it comes to questionable food.

harlequin actually keep the starfish alive when they feed on them. They keep feeding the starfish and pump neurotoxin in them so i dont think it will touch it. Besides it can take a week to be fully ate by the shrimp and I am not sure what the decay will do

Unfortunately once a month is way too long between feeds I feed the ones at the store once a week and occasionaly go to two weeks......... it is not cheap to keep one of these guys!

this is always been a conterversial topic though..
which stating cutting lims off a starfish and letting it grow back..
the growing back Is the issue..

they say it can take long months before you can really even groe half of the lost lim of the star...

Yes it does take awhile but I have enough to rotate ...if I run low I can snatch another cc for $5 here so its just under $2 a week not counting regeneration

I have tossed around the idea of buying a harlequin but I just cant make the commitment to keep one at this time. I feed the one at the store a whole cc star every week. I dont think I could physically cut a leg off of a starfish to feed, as I always feel sorry for the cc when I toss them in. However, that feeling sorry for him goes away fast when I watch the shrimp drag that thing into his den and put it to sleep! I can sit there for an hour and watch the precision of the shrimp numb the star one leg at a time!
