How do I go about feeding my Lps corals? Do I just suck some frozen mysis into a turkey baster and shoot it at them? Thanks.

Put a little tank water in a small cup, I use an old shot glass. Defrost the frozen food in the water. I turn off all the pumps while the food is defrosting so the water is nice and settled by the time I feed. I do use a turkey baster but the hole on mine is pretty big and I need to get a smaller one. Something with the opening of an eye dropper would be best. Make sure to squeeze the food out slowly as a gush of water will make the coral close without getting any food. Try to only get food into the coral. If you have tons of frozen food all over the place and you feed often you be battling algae like crazy. Even with the awesome cuc I have I still only feed about once a week at the most.

I love feeding my lps lol, it is soo cool.

I am currently feeding a favia and a frogspawn, I mix the frozen mysis with tank water in a shot glass and set it on my lights to warm it up. Then as mentioned above, I suck it up with a turkey baster and gently blow it over the coral. I don't bother to turn off the pumps though as the corals don't really seem to have a problem catching the food.

I love watching the favia eat, it is really cool!

Your best chance of feeding will be after the lights go out. Wait about an hour after your lights shut off and all the sweeper tentacles will be fully extended then just squirt away.lol

No moonlights will not effect the corals feeding response.;)

I have a thread on here somewhere of a great contraption i made with a syringe long hard plastic tube and a little flexible airline hose thats pretty awesome for target feeding. Helped alot with getting my food where it needed to be.

I place pellets in or near their mouth. they will open up almost immediately and eat them within a minute.

And to all those who say that LPS need mysis or shrimp... I beg to differ. I have been keeping my lps alive (and growing very quickly for lps) for over 2 years with pellets alone. Also, I have nursed back to health duncans and even a scoly that was literally only days from being completely dead, on pellets alone.

I feed my frog spawn, plate coral, and nem pellets on the regular also. Once a week or two I feed mysis or silverside bits.

I target feed my LPS corals thawed and rinsed frozen mysis in the evenings a couple times per week. I feed the rest of my tank 2-3 times per week alternating with mysis, frozen cyclops, Tropic Marin Reef Snow, Pro-Coral Phyton and TM Pro-Coral Zooton.
