    VERY NICE PIECE!
They will get a lot of their nutrition from the lights etc, yes you do need to feed them. I use a variety of foods, oyster feast, cyclopeeze and coral freenzy. After the lights go out, i will dose the tank and allow them to filter feed. Occasionally (about 1 x week) I will target feed them directly with a small medicine dropper.

Also make sure you maintain your calcium, mag and alkalinity. I find that chalices react very poorly very quickly if these levels fall, esp alk.

From my experience, they open up and extend their feeding tentacles at night. I like to shine a red light on mine after a few hours of darkness and make sure everything is working well. If you've just got this one, it may take a few days to open, or if it likes where you placed it, may open up that very night. So to answer your question, yes, they do want to eat, and the best time to do so is when they are extended. But, I cant tell you the exact time that is. That will depend on your light preference settings, and the type of chalice.
