Why is that difficult to believe? Do you think that the nutritional content of a live chicken is different from that of a dead chicken (if fresh)? It is not, as long as it is fresh and then preserved. The reason we use live feeds for some aquarium applications is due to the preferences of certain creatures (usually carnivores) for catching live food. Such animals don't always recognize dead food as "food" and so won't go after it. But in terms of coral - no significant difference according to anything I've read, other than the pollution factor.

Doesn't matter to me that much. Like I said, "I Don't Use It".

Huh, so why even debate the issue with me if your just going to pull that as a response

I don't use much. I use it in my refugium to supplement my "pod" population. What makes it into the main tank is ok, but I don't purposely dose my main tank as I really don't have anything but zooplankton that feeds on it.

Has nothing to do with a DEBATE Mr. Gresham or is it Mrs. Gresham? For every 10 articles you've "debated" or written about the benefits theres 10 written about problems. What works in your tank may not work in mine, correct?

I think you took my post the wrong way, sorry if I ruffled your feathers :( . I thought it was a friendly back and forth we had going but apparently I was wrong!

I used the term debate rather loose. It does describe the back and forth we had going though.

I am unaware I posted any articles, link? (just teasing)

It's Mr H ;) Gresham is my first name :D

You know how they "expire". Well pooey. IME, does not matter. i.e. dead and live are same as far as the tank cares. but they are refrigerated.

I keep around 6-7 soft tubed feather dusters and a coco worm. i also have maintained 0 nitrates for a very long while. I do not turn off my skimmer because my skimmer has a surface skimmer and I inject the phyto into a downward pointing PH.

so i do have things that benefit and consume this stuff. I have verified if I stop dosing it (whether live or dead) my worms die. when i regularly feed somewhat, they survive for ... at least several months now.

i buy a bottle of live. it takes forever to use up a bottle bc I don't dose near what the instructions say. The bottles always go "non-viable".

If you have stuff that needs it or you want a bigger DT POD population by all means use it sparingly. Don't worry if it dies off, but do refrigerate it.

If you surface skim, don't worry about it. Otherwise, I don't have a comment on that.

    I use DT's BTW.
