That's how I do it too. Although it's more like 10 minutes (Wavemaster Pro feeding mode).

I am a special case. Special as in lazy when it comes to feedings. I just drop the frozen food in the return section of my sump and as it thaws out it gets pumps into the DT. everything stays on to prevent settling. The fish then go nuts by the return output and there is very little waste food. When I am spot feeding corals, I still leave everything on. Ijust allow the tentacles to pull the food out of the syringe. I have yet to have a problem.

Do you have a "switch" on your return wired to switch it off or do you have to pull the plug?

The Wavemaster Pro has a feeding mode button you push. Disables the 4 powerheads that are hooked to it for 10 minutes. My return pump and skimmer are not plugged into it so they just stay on.

I turn everything off at the surgeprotector so they can feed and then when i turn it back on the power head stirs up the little that settle on the sand bed so they can finish it off....

spot feeding: off (for lps mainly)
feeding fish: on (i do this because most of my stuff is sps... so i want the fish poop to be quickly dissolved so that polyps can catch it)
