Depends on how big the tank is, your nitrate and phosphate levels, what your cuc is, and filtration

I respectfully disagree. Starving your pets for the sake of cutting corners on CuC or filtration, or to slack on maintenance is not a viable option. Your mother didn't only feed you twice per week to keep from washing dishes, and you wouldn't only feed the cat that often to keep from cleaning the litter box so frequently, so why would you treat fish that way? They, too, are living creatures that require proper nutrition for good health and a long, happy life.

Fish are accustomed to feeding nearly constantly in the wild; while most can adapt to two or three meals per day, with less than that, they will eventually starve unless you have a large, well-established tank that provides live fares (plankton, pods, algae, etc) for them to nibble on.

The question should not be how often, but how much. What the fish can eat in 2 - 3 minutes each feeding should be plenty. In a smaller system, you may want to add food in tiny portions for the duration. A good CuC will take care of the leftovers.

I agree with Bill. Should be fed at least once a day, for a Firefish anyways. Other more active fish should be fed more frequently IMO.

sorry, it was unclear in my last post i was referring to quantities based on daily feedings.

always preferable to spread out the meal over several feedings (less more frequently is better than once to much). look how he reacts, how much food he leaves untouched and adjust quantities from there.....)
