Today I purchased a Purple Firefish as my first fish in my 29g reef. I was curious how to avoid overfeeding. I put 3-4 bloodworms in the water just now and he didn't go after them. I know this puts added waste in the water but how do I make sure my fish eats what I put in the tank? My previous tanks have been large enough so that I didn't really need to worry about this.

    Any help is appreciated.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
It's not uncommon for fish not to eat during acclimation, this can go on for several days.

Smaller foods such a mysid and cyclops is probably more appropriate for a fire fish.

When all else fails try to feed the same food they were getting at the fish store.

Also, if you have a CuC that includes hermits, true crabs, and/or shrimp, no food will be left uneaten (unless trapped by a filter).

the rule of thumb in terms of feeding (from what iv read) is whatever you toss in should be eaten within two minutes. but this really is just a general guide line.

its better to serve smaller feedings throughout the day than one huge one once
