We have a new dishwasher at the restaurant, nice enough kid but slow and is always texting. Towards the end of the night I see he's getting backed up and is texting again. Time to nip this one in the bud. As I walk up to tell him to put down that phone and get to work one of the busgirls sneaks up behind him and tickles him. Must of startled him cause PLOP! there goes the phone into the 5 gallon bucket where the waitstaff dumps all the leftover drinks. I really did feel bad for laughing and the fact that his phone fell 5 gallons of nastiness, but he shouldn't have been texting when there was work to be done.

hehe sad to lose a phone, but as a business owner, you can set policies against it and if they break it, there are 14% of the US population that wouldn't mind taking his job :p

My restaurant just started a strict no cell phone policy a month ago. Everyone has been pretty good about the new policy, but a week or two ago people have been slipping. One kid has been told twice to put his phone away. Two days ago he is so wrapped up in his text message he didn't notice the owner looking at him through the window. Their heads were less than a foot and a half apart while the owner let him finish up. The kid smiles and hits send then looks up. It was classic. He became the sacrificial lamb and no one has dared use their phone!
