The tank has been cycling for 3 weeks. I'm wondering if it will be ok to keep a naso tang after in my size tank.

tangs usually needa large swimming spaces especailly the larger variety like the naso tang, you could keep some juvenille tangs like the blue or yellow, but in the future they would need a larger tank to move into as they grow bigger. also how long did you cycle your tank before adding 5 fish? any pics?

    Great to have you here!

Try to be patient for just a little longer before adding any fish. Then begin with smaller less expensive varietes...there are lots of cool ones to choose from. Let us know if you would like some ideas, we all love to fish shop/or help with fish shopping!

on most forums you will have the "tang Police" telling you that you shouldn't keep tangs but if you must, you need a 30,000 gallon tank(not really but you get the point) if you are planning a larger tank in the future then you could get a small tang and keep him happy in there for a while. but if you are going to keep the 46 for a while i would definatly look into some others. sometimes the angels can nip at coral. but that isn't always the case.

Are you seriously going to keep asking this question until you get the answer you want?

The problem with purchasing a juv and then trading it in when it is too big for your tank is.
    1) in a reef tank it is very hard to de-construct your reef to try and catch a fish
    2) There are far fewer Large reef tanks out there that can handle a larger fish
    3) Most people like juvs to watch them grow so the market is much smaller for large fish
    4) Large fish that are taken back to the store are then put into the small sales tanks with less hope of selling they tend to be there for awhile or die

I think you got good advise over at Canreef, but it appears it was not the answer you wanted so why don't you just do what you want to do and stop asking.
