I've had a fighting conch for about a month. I would have to say he's my favorite critter in my tank and is a great eater of algae and other things. I've seen him burrow up to the top of his shell several times, but he's always come out of the sand bed to eat. For about the past week, I have not seen him. Before he's always on top of the sand and if he can get there, the small rocks in the front of my tank.

Has anyone's fighting conch burrowed and not come back for a period of time? I know he had enough to eat because he did such a good job of cleaning. I've been checking my parameters and they've been excellent. The only change is that I got a jawfish, but I wouldn't think this would change anything as he uses the live rock as a hiding spot.

Do not lose sleep over it. Things have a way of dissapearing in a sw tank. Maybe he'll surprise you and show up.

I wouldn't worry about it. Mine dis-appeared for over a month. It's just kicking it under the substrate.

Do you have a blue knuckle hermit, they seem to like conchs?

I don't have any hermits thankfully. Only snails, a couple shrimp, and a porcelain crab.

I have a fighting conch that usually stays burried under the sand. I usually run into him when I clean the top layer of sand. He will eventually come up, but I usually search for mine and check on him. Once I bring him up, he will graze on top of the sand for a day and back down he goes.
