setting up the new 120g, and i've narrowed sand choice down to CaribSea fiji pink or the Bahama sand from macro rocks. anyone use either of those and how do you like it. Also how is the grain size on the bahama sand? my current tank has sugar sized grains and it gets everywhere im constantly blowing it off rocks and corals, i want a slightly large grain this time.

I use the marco sand, it is a very fine grain and will fly around if you get a powerhead pointed at it but I dont have any problems with it otherwise. my rainsfordi goby loves to sift it for dinner and doesn't cause any major storms doing so, and watching the snails appear out of nowhere when I feed is pretty cool too.

hmm my thread is in algae forum misclick i guess oops,

    thx for input

my goby tends to dump every bit of sand he picks up on my favia, so hes going to be a pain with any sand

also im planning on a fairly thin layer of sand 1 inch-ish which i figure is 60lbs in a 120g (4x2x2), i know they say roughly 1 lb per gallon but that doesn't make any sense to me since the bottom dimensions of a tank don't change in same ratio as gallons (75 and 90 are the exact same for instance, that 15 more lbs just makes a deeper bed) If I'm missing something obvious here let me know.

I have bahama sand right now and replacing with fiji pink when I move in a few months. You will most likely have problem with blowing sand with bahama.

ordering the fiji pink I plan some strong flow in the tank (3000gph closed loop, and about 750 more on sump return), and dont want any major dust storms
