Has anyone ever kept a file fish in a reef? Pirticularly a bristle tooth? I know they are technically not considered reef safe - but that can be said about alot of species successfully kept in a reef.....

Hardly a good example considering the size of the tank but they keep an orange spot one in the coral tank at Atlantis Marine World in Riverhead NY. That tank is large enough and has enough corals in it that although the fish do pick at the corals, there's no negative effect as I believe there would be in our small tanks.

Yes sorry i did mean bristle tail - im considering taking a risk with one of these. A samll like. I doubt one so small would eat my shrimp, not overly fussed about the worms and mini stars tho

i dunno - ihave an itch for a new fish, and id either like something really unusual or something really bright!

So that particular species eats shrimp and not corals? If that's the case and you want the fish, I say go for it.

unusual...... how about a leaf fish? they have realitively small mouths, look unusual and are pretty easy to care for. their mouths arent near as big as their cousins the lionfish so they can be kept in a reef tank without much harm unless you have small small small fish in there.
