Hello. I have a 20g FOWLR tank and my Marineland HOB filter crapped out. I have a wet/dry sump I used to use on my 55g tank that I'm thinking of setting up to replace the HOB. From my reading there's a lot of difference in opinion on the flow rates, ranging from 1x all the way up to 80x. Can anybody recommend a good flow rate (through the filter only, not the whole tank)? Thanks in advance!

I've always gone by 10x turn over of the tank....so 200gph. The other thing is some like to go a lot more, but moving water through a sump is not really doing anything. If you have a skimmer in there, and it can process say 100 gph, moving more water through the sump isn't "filtering" it any more. It's just moving it. PHs, return pumps and skimmers already put enough air and flow in the water. JMO
