Ok so I have 2 filters I could use. First off I have an emperor 280 on the tank now, bio wheel removed. The second is a hot magnum 250. The guy I bought the magnum from said I was missing a peice and couldn't use the micron filter until I figured out what peice it was. (He couldn't remember what peice it was). So which one do y'all think I should use?

idk about any if their of them but I have a 20 gallon aquarium with an AuquaClear pro 30 rated for 150 gph. its good for a 30 gallon they make a 20 or 100gph that would be perfect. I like to go a model up, more power for less water. look at it. Aquarium Filters: Hagen AquaClear Power Filters they have 3 stage filtration chemical, bio, and mechanical. it runs quiet too.

I think the Emperor 280 would work very well. Might be a little too much flow, but that's better than not enough. I use a Whisper 40 Powerfilter on my 38g (just carbon in "the bag"- it's a mesh bag called "the bag") and like it. If you use the poly filters for the Emperor, you will need to change them out probably once a week. Yep, they get dirty that fast. "The bag" is nylon mesh so I just take it out and wash it once a week to get the crud off of the outside of it. It's reusable and saves me a lot of money since I don't have to buy a ton of poly filters. I change the carbon out every 3 weeks (1/4 cup on my 38g).
