Filter Media Shelf

What is a good filter media shelf that falls in the following categories:
- very easy for water to pass through
- stiff, not flimsy
- Needs to be somewhat strong so it can support a huge chunk of polyester fiber that is drenched with water.

so, what can you come up with? I was thinking maybe egg crate?

 

Yup. egg crate. it can be used for just about anything. lol

and now that i bring the egg crate up, do any of you know where i can buy some cheap egg crate? is this a reliable site?

i can get a custom size so i dont have to waste any at least
just to fill you in, both my local home depot AND lowes do not and will not carry in egg crate... sketchy, i know. So with that being said, please respond to where i can buy egg crate. Also, where can i buy scrap pieces of acrylic to glue on the sides of my filter so i can rest the egg crate on top of them, thus forming a filter media shelf. Or, what material do you recommend i do this with????????

go to home depot or lowes..

just saw that they wont.. did you look in their back left kind of "random" section at HD.. they had it back there at mine and they didnt call it egg crate.. just fluorescent light cover..
