Do I turn my filter on while the sand is cloudy in the tank?

Just added it and it's really cloudy

People will vary their opinions here. I would say run the filter with some pads and you will take a lot of the "suspended" or "colloid" fluids out of the water column. They contain no necessary trace elements or vitamins nor will you be removing any beneficial flora or fauna.

If you have a sump - just keep an eye on your pads as they will clog VERY fast with all that stuff in the water.

I ran mine with the filter media. Like M-Ocean man said they clog fast I rinsed mine every so often.

It doesn't really matter much. I like to run it to try to get as much particulate matter out of the tank as possible, but it won't hurt anything if you don't.
