I just added a 100 micron 4" filter sock to my sump, at the same time as the water becoming more tranquil and still the skimmer bubble height in the cup reduced around a inch or so, ehy is that?

Less organics for the skimmer to remove. However, that will only last as long as you keep the sock clean, as trapped detritus will break down into dissolved organics.

Clean that sock every few days. It will clog and start overflowing.

I have 3 filter socks that I use. I use one for about 3-4 days then rotate a clean one. Use that for 3-4 days and replace again. I then wash the 2 dirty socks in the washer inside out with hot water. Run it 2 cycles and then let dry. Others have different way of washing but this is what works for me.
Now I have 2 clean socks and continue the process.
After several days the socks get clogged and will overflow. Best to run a clean sock to reduce the breakdown of detritus and food in your sump.

Thanks, makes sense, I soaked in bleach and water to clean first for ten mins then put in washing mashine, rinse and spin, and hung on line to dry, works great so far
