filter sock?

    dont know if i'm in the rite forum for this question but whats a filtersock used for? ive started a pod farm and i dont want my pods filtered in a sock. i have a cannister filter atm i think went bad so im looking at a sump but i dont want my pods sucked in.

    well i put my filter sock on the receiving end of my over flow in the sump, it just acts as a extra filter against any debris and micro bubbles along with the baffle,
