Filtration Sponge

    I have a 46 gallon running a hang on Aqua C Skimmer and Phosban in a power filter. Does anybody use any type of mechanical filtration like a sponge or do more people think they just collect nitrates?

    im lazy and just use whatever the manufacturer's sell for the mechanical filters

    i have a big mechanical filter that i think is rated for like a 80g tank that i use on a 20g QT setup I have, but in there I just run like 10lbs LR, 25lbs LS and the big filter pulls enough water it generates enough flow for the entire tank.
    all i run in it is carbon
