Filtration...

Got a quick question, im sure I'll get some different view here but I guess that's a good thing.

Wondering If I have to much filtration? I've read having your water tooo clean can be bad too, so here goes with my filtration setup.

I have a hob overflow with the round sponge, that drains into my ATS( auto turf scrubber) the water drains off the ATS pad onto another filter mat( the blue and white ones), the water then drains through there on my LR and cheato, from there it goes into the next sump compartment where my skimmer is, then in the next compartment I have my reactor GFO and carbon (from bulk reef supply), that drain into my last compartment which is my return pump.

My water is crystal clear but I don't want any effect from it being so clean in the long run,
ever since I started my GFO/ carbon and ATS, no more algae though..

That depends on if you have changed your feeding regimen. If you are feeding less now than before then you may have too clean water. Your corals will tell you. Softies and LPS may need supplemental feeding if you have not been doing it already.

 

over filtered water isnt bad, its just overkill, and unnecessary. my lfs as a joke set up a nano with a 212 gallon sump right under it, it was pretty funny

 

Kk thanks peeps, does it look like I'm alittle over board? It's a 40 gal breeder with model 3 sump...

 

maybe a little but whats it matter. its already done. i would just leave it it could only benefit you and your tank.

 

I always say, heavy skimming, live rock and water changes
