the dims are 48x15x17high, I will have an aquaC remora HOB skimmer with maxijet 1200, Marineland penguin 350b power filter running carbon on one side and a DIY fuge on the other side. 1 koralia 1050gph powerhead, 80lbs LR, and 80lbs LS. My planned stock is a bicolor blenny, a sixline wrasse, a neon goby, a pair of oc. clowns, and...a yellow tang. I know the tank is a tad small but I can always sell the tang when its full grown or get a bigger tank. what are your opinions on the stock?

    Sostoudt that was amusing

the final stocking - means you dont stock ever again, thus make sure these are what you want

Brennan - I think thats a good list of fish, the yellow will be OK for a few months in a 4ft tank, and you do need to accept that if its healthy and eats well, its going to outgrow it
and as much as it may hurt to part with it, it would be best for that fish

will it be FO or FOWLR - if so maybe you could consider a Dwarf angel in place of the yellow? the lemon peel angel would be a good choice IME
if its a yellow fish you where looking for to add a splice of colour a Canary wrasse would also be a longer term option in a 4ft

I put final stocking because I posted another thread about stocking this tank and I wanted to say that this was the final thread about it, It will be a FOWLR for about 6 mo then become a mixed reef. So the dwarf angel is out but I do like the canary wrasse. Would the canary and sixline get along?

The sixeline would be a pain, sorry about that, I was suggesting yellow fish as alternatives to the tang ( which are great, but its hard to say goodbye when you know they are getting to large IME)

Okay I think I will just have a loose idea on stock and just see where it goes. I am so excited though, I am ordering everything for my tank tommorow!

I am not sure, hopefully by christmas as it is my present. I have been begging my parents for a SW tank forever and they are finally letting me, I would have gone full reef right away but it was just too much $$$ so I will upgrade in July for my B-day. I already have the stand, the tank, the HOB filter, and a 2x65w 10k/420nm CF just for aesthetics. I am ordering 71lbs of rock from reefcleaners, 80lbs of sand from marco rocks, and a heater, HOB skimmer, 1050gph powerhead, thermometer, refractometer, test kits, and algae scraper from marine depot. all together its $475, not too bad :)

I was going to suggest a dwarf angel instead of the tang, also. I've had a coral beauty and now have a pygmy angel. Both were beautiful additions - the coral beauty jumped out a long time ago (ugh) and I've had the pygmy angel for about a year and a half now. Also, a flame angel would be really nice (though I've never had one). I would be hesitant on the tang just because I'd hate to put a fish through stress again when I had to give it up!
