K is kelvin or colour temperature rating
10,000K or higher are what are called daylight lamps
6,5000 K are basically a little more towards the red end of spectrum and are good for planted tanks, but not ideal on a reef as they can encourage algaes

I use 2 x 10k, 2 X 14K and 2 x actinic in my 6 lamp canopy it gives a nice bluish colour when all lamps are on

Yes, the 8 bulb fixture would be awesome. When it comes time to replace bulbs, I would recommend 4 420nm's with 4 14000K's. UVL brand for all of them ;)

There not Tek like I wanted but you and I know how tight money can be so I am going with the ones from buildyouraquarium.com they have a 5 year warranty and I have heard good things about the unit itslef but the bulb will need replaced in a few months. I help out to many other people around here to try and save for namebrand, and I cant say no to someone in need so I have bolted the door and unplugged the phone until the government gives me that extra money next month then I will get the lights and be public again.

Have a good one.. Let us know when you get your lights
So just lock the door, pull the shades.. No one there will know you are online..
