Yay, we finally got a fish!!! :D

We had seen this fish at the LFS the weekend before Christmas as he peeped at me over the rock, and I thought he(?) was sooo cute! I didn't expect him to still be there today when we went for peppermint shrimp, and I didn't see him in the tank at first, but then there he was! Soooo...we got him.

We had already seen him eat at the store when we first saw him, and after I acclimated him & got him in the tank, I put in some PE mysis and he chowed down! Yay! I think he's really digging having the space. At first, he went in a corner, swam around in it, sifted a little sand, then looked down the LOOONG back corridor like he couldn't believe his eyes. He's swimming all over the whole tank now, even up & down the glass. The cat is finally interested in the tank now, and he's not scared of her either!

Oh yeah, he's a bluespot sleeper goby (Valenciennea sexguttata). Anyone know if the black fin spot means it's a male, or do they all have that? The dorsal seems a bit pointy, so I'm assuming male, but since I've never seen both sexes, I really have no idea and I'm not finding any sexing info!

That's actually a female I think. The males have one solid top fin if I remember correctly...nice addition!

distinguished by a small urogenital papilla, which is in the ventral region between the anal opening and the anal fin. In the females it is short, blunt and has a yellow coloration; in males it is thin, pointed and has a smooth appearance

Actually I take that back, this is the answer i found on google I typed in how to sex a goby...sorry bout the mix up lol...I was thinking scooter blennys for some reason(been a long day)
