Agreed, but that doesn't mean you can't keep them. Just don't trust them :p Keep an eye on it and you should be able to discover any mischief before it becomes fatal or too drastic. You could go years without any mischief out of them too.

Plenty of folks have kept these little inverts for years without issue.

    Did your Abalone survive?

Just saying crabs aren't as easy to keep as Live Rock, but I wouldn't say all crabs should be avoided at all costs. They just need you to be aware of the risks and to keep an eye out for them.

Yeah red rock crabs are cold water.
Exactly how big is he? might be too small to cause any damage.

I'm with Geekdafied on this one. If I had to take a guess, you rarely see the crab but you see a waving arm from a hole in the rock after lights out.

If you are telling me it looks like that Eriphia in the other thread, this puppy needs to be moved to your sump.

I would definatly say its the same crab as in the other thread just think my cam picked it up in a diff colour. I would say its a Eriphia Sebana! Take it they are bad as i couldnt find much info on what they eat or anything. it only comes out of the whole in complete darkness with any movement sending it scurryin back to its whole super quick! Im so glad that i finally no what the little bugger is!;D

I had two emerald crabs, one green and one brown. This looks just like mine did. Are the claws more rounded with whay almost looks like spoons at the end ?

This was what my green one looked like

My brown one was the same but brown and did not have the fuzzy legs.

    Here is a brown one
