Unfortunately, you're in good company Horkn. I know sooooo many people looking right now too. Keep your head up. The economy will eventually improve.

Not that bad of a time to leave school if you are looking to jump into an internship. I hear they have been easier to get as companies look to downsize employees.

Thats definitely true! I did a summer internship last year and was asked if I wanted to continue on as an employee for the company, which I decided not to do since I wanted to focus on my studies during the school year. They would much rather pay some fresh college graduate a starting pay, then continue to pay a high salary employee who has been working for the company for a long time(a sad truth in most cases). It also benefits the company in the sense that they train the person and if they do poorly they can fire them and hire someone new all over again at that starting pay, but if the new employee does a great job they are getting great work at a low price. While one would think that this would be a disliked practice for the company because they have to keep retraining people, it is much cheaper to pay for the training, in most cases, then to continue paying the high salary employee. This is a big problem that has led me to the conclusion that if you want to keep your high paying job, make yourself irreplaceable!!

Oh yeah, I have my head up. I have 2 interested companies right now.

One I am one of the top 3 candidates for a senior buyer position at a huge company. I have been crossing my fingers a lot lately.

Yes, internships are out there in droves. If you have 10 years experience, then an internship isn't the best option. ;)
