This stuff was not on the coral a few hours ago. I got this one a week ago. He started leaning to the right 24-48 hours after I got him, and now he has a web-like material on it! It looks almost like a spider web, only with no intricate design. I am attaching pics. All of the polyps are open on him, but he has the stuff on him!!! HELP!!!

He is bending at a 45 degree angle and appears to be shedding spider webs!!! The camera stinks, because it is COVERED.

It could just be shedding. Happens from time to time.

It's just doing it's thing be it shedding or protecting itself, it's a normal process.

They shed to remove detritus build up on them and when they grow. My leathers and toadstools will shrink up for a few days and then shed as they open back when they grow.

I think I have good news! The finger's polyps are completely opened, and he has leaned back to the left by like a half inch! He is REALLY shedding alot, but having ALL of his polyps open is a good sign. I was going to do a water change and clean up what he has already shed, but my trusted LFS closed early tonight because we had a crazy storm. So in the morning I am going to clean it really good.

Does the shedded skin affect water parameters?? Is it like a fish's waste, or no?

Ive never worried about it. You can take a turkey bastor and spray it to remove the skin and pick the whole piece up and shake it a little.
