I ordered a shipment of coral from that very-big-and-appropriately-named saltwater fish store on the web; everything arrived alive and is doing awesome, except for a finger leather which is looking like it wants to be a goner.

The store has been very nice and issued a credit, so if I can save this guy it'll essentially be a freebie.

The question is - can I save it? You can see in the circled pic below that its bleached and at least one finger (circled) has gone mushy and sloughed off it's tissue. Should I leave it in the tank whole, or should I cut off the brown healthy parts and plant them somewhere?

Or is this a goner and just going to poison my water?

I don't know, it doesn't look that bad to me. I've seen them like that plenty of times. Was it supposed to be a different color or something? I would put it on the bottom of the tank and make sure it has "good" flow, like medium to medium-strong.
