About a month ago my 3 firefish disappeared in days, I'm assuming due to my sally lightfoot. However, I was just looking in my overflow and there he was sitting in there. He's probably been down there for at least a few weeks. I immediately dropped him some food that he ate but I have no idea how to get him. If I do should I put him back in the reef or in my 4 day old 36 gallon seahorse? The 'horse tank is pretty much cycled because it has 40 lbs of live sand and 20 lbs fully cured live rock. I think he might have a better shot up there.

    PLEASE HELP

I would give your horse tank at least a week to fully confirm it has cycled. If the fish has been in there that long Im sure a few more days wont hurt.

Is the overflow box built into the tank or is it a HOB overflow?

If it is a HOB overflow, stop the return pump and take it off and dump him out. Should be self explanatory. If built-in, let him get sucked into sump if possible, might have to remove standpipe.

Its a built in overflow. If he gets sucked into the sump he would get trapped in a grate that the water goes over before getting into the sump. That would surely kill him on impact or suffocating.

I accidentally did this to one of my dwarf puffers the other day while doing a water change..you could start a siphon with some larger diameter tubing and try sucking him into a bucket

+1. Suck him out with some 1" tubing.

Thats my plan so far. However, if I just put him back in he'll get killed. He may need to stay in there for a couple more days while I catch the sally and get him a couple buddies.
