I was so excited, I bought my 2nd fish, a small clown gobie. Something that'd live peacefully w/ my firefish gobie. So I get home open the front opening to the lid of my tank & sat the new fish in the bag in the water to begin acclimation. I use the floating bag method mention in liveaquaria.com, which is an awesome, informative site by the way. I went to eat dinner. Half an hour later I came back to open the bag to start mix water & that tank lacked color. I looked around the LR & still couldn't find it. My wife also tried to come find it. I know they are jumpers so I looked on the ground thinking it jumped out. After 5 minutes of scanning the hardwood I see the lure like object 5ft away from the tank in the corner under the coat rack. It was too late, there was no response & was dry. Dish was dead:cry:. Just placing the bag in the water spooked the fish enough to make it swim to the bag & leave the water.
Now hate that it happened, but I wonder did it flop to the corner OR propel itself 5 ft away?

Sorry to hear, When my firefish jumped it happened to land about 7 feet away from the tank. Ive hear stories up to about 15 Feet away!... Try getting a canopy or lid on the tank, some of them you can even make. such as a screen door frame kit! Normally costs about 10$ todo and saves lives in the process!
