that would be ok, but minimal. I always personally recommend aquaclears for any small reef tank as there is a million things to do with them, I think an aquaclear 70 would be your best bet, it adds about a gallon of water to the tank volume, you can hide your heater in there, the flow is adjustable, the media can be cut and customized to fit your needs. I would look into that, if funds are tight ATM, the filter you have will suffice for the cycle, but I would eventually get an aquaclear! :) they are the bee's knees

Haha, I will look into that for sure. It sounds perfect! Here is a picture of how I have the filter set up in the tank. I only have the two live rocks right now (the LFS ran out). I'll be adding more this thursday.

P.S. You can see the hermit crabs taking their daily nap on the left side of the live rock. So cute...

Is it weird to have so many diatoms and see coraline begining to grow this early in the tanks' life? It has only been about 11 days since it got water and live rock in it.

sounds about right for the diatoms, but the coralline seems early to me, unless you have huge calcium levels. your rock probably already has coraline on it if its live rock. diatoms will go away in a week usually

Here you go! What do you think? I got them from a little shop I found with some of the most amazing tanks I've ever seen. This place is a diamond in the rough. This is the set up, what do you guys think? Any ideas?

The only place it is touching the glass is on the right side. The back has room for water flow.

    Looks good!

The only thing I'd recommend (from personal experience!) is that you be sure you can clean the glass on any side you plan on being able to look through. Rocks too close (or touching) can make it hard. I have a section of my rock work JUST too close to get a magfloat in, so cleaning is more difficult than it should be.

I'm going to start a 20 long sometime soon. IMO you need more rock, always more rock.
