First, please excuse any amateur comments or questions made by myself. I am, after all, an amateur.

I've been running my 34 gallon display tank for about 6 months now, all livestock is happy and healthy since entering about 4 months ago. Besides the HOB biowheel filter (don't shame me, still learning about sumps over here!) putting out 350gph there isn't much other flow. Today a Hydro Koralia Evolution 850 I ordered for my 34 gallon display tank came in.

I'm curious about where the most effective place I can put this pump is, attached is a super crude paint drawing of the flow I have observed in my tank. I'm thinking (from front view) on the left towards the rear of the tank midlevel, pointed up towards the filter.

Any comments or help with flow is greatly appreciated!

I would place it in the opposite back corner from the HOB about 6-8" under the surface. Either on the back glass or the side glass, whichever allows you to point it approximately front center, tilted slightly us so it ripples the surface for good oxygen exchange.
It may take a little tweaking but his usually works good with one powerhead and moves surface scum towards the HOB for removal.

    Thanks for your input, AZ!

I have another, similar question with my 8gallon nano. I got a Hydo Koralia Nano 240 for that one. The tank has a small internal filter system running in it, and makes me even more unsure about where to put the pump. Check out my cave drawing:

    Any ideas?

I would think either back corner would work. In my 16G bowfront nano I have a modified AC 110 HOB converted to a refugium and the flow reduced by shaving the impeller which is mounted pretty much centered in back. In one back corner is a Koralia K-1 pointed front top center and in the other corner is a Hydor Evolutions Nano 425 also pointed front center. Flows are pretty good but I tyhink I could use a little more flow still.

In my 100G reef I have a Jebao WP-25 in each back corner and a Oceans Motions Squirt two way current switching device on my return pump so it comes out of Loc Lines in each corner for completely random flows and it is great. I like the idea of being able to start and stop of vary the powerhead flows to get random currents and keep detritus stirred up so it can be removed by the skimmer or HOB in your case.
