Thanks guys for the help and replies. I was going to split the drain after you guys mentioned it. However now Im thinking about this :

Ditch the refugium and just use the sump to house the "Meanest" skimmer I can find and other equipment. I have been reading that there is no set in stone method of running a reef and I think I would be okay. If things end up not working out for me, I could always plumb a spare 20 g AGA that I have lying around and make sort of a display fuge with macro algaes sitting right next to the tank.

Im thinking this way because the fuge area is pretty small in my sump (smaller than your normal fuge), and I think it will be more effort than its worth. I dont want to mess around with it and want to see if I will actually need it. If so I will just use the 20 gallon as a fuge later on.

I also wanted to ask, how hard is it to set up one of those Automatic Top Offs? Are they really complicated for a noobie like myself to hook up?

Lastly Im doing a lot of hunting around for some sort of LED fixture, the fact that the bulbs last years really gives me a peace of mind.

    Once again Thanks!

Next Step water, sand, and rock, then finally a rest period while the tank cycles and time to save some money.
