Our tank's are now 6 months old and very stable. Only concern is the Nitrate was .15 today after we went away for a week and left someone to feed the sunflower corals.

We think we are now ready to purchase our first fish and we only want a few and have decided to start with Clown fish. We have been told there are many varieties including captive breed and wild. Any recommendations? My son likes black and we like the orange ones;)

Tanks are full of coral and growing well;)

Tank raised perculas are typically very hardy fish. Look to make sure you see no signs of disease when shopping for them, and make sure they eat flake food at the pet store (most will, especially tank raised). All clowns swim funny, shaking back and forth - that's normal.

I would always prefer captive bred, maricultured, and aquacultured whenever possible.;D It's green..........
In the case of the wild caught clownfish, there is an anemone that will be potentially robbed of a much needed sentry. Wild caught anemones can affect clownfish in the opposite manner.

    Me too!

Our first fish buy was a mated pair of clowns - tank raised, Ocelleris variety. Everybody loves to see the "Nemos." Clowns are funny to watch - all the shaking, twitching, chasing. They still sleep in their same "clown corner" they've been in since day one. The emerald crab invaded their corner the other day and the female kept blasting it with sand with her tail until it finally wandered off.
