Yes from the store, exactly. It helps because when it rots that's your ammonia/waste. Then the nitrifying bacteria has something to work with and build on.

I get all of my fish, as of recently from Tropical Aquarium in Brunswick, owner is Hector, he will not steer you wrong. As for Live Rock I have ordered from PremiumAquatics.com (Indiana I think), Saltycritter.com (vermillion, Ohio), and PetSolutions.com (CINNY area, Ohio). As for parts I usually order from thatpetplace.com drive to Lancaster at least once a year or online at petsolution.com

Each time you add LR you will start another cycle. It really isn't worth it to add a little at a time unless you can cure it outside the main tank and then add it fully cycled.

Also you may want to rethink 4 inches of sand. The sand, in theory will be beneficial at first because you will have an anaerobic section deep in the sand. Over time this anaerobic section will become saturated with nitrite and nitrate and burp. This burp can whip out your entire tank

What do you mean by I cant add a little at a time, unless I can cure it outside the main tank, than adding fully cycled.

Can you also elaborate on what you mean by re-think about my sand bed? I thought it was recommended to have 4 inches or more or less than 1 inch of sand!

    Thank You

I dont know if you have thought about it but using mostly base rock instead of live rock will help keep the cost down. You will need a couple of pieces of live rock but the rest can be base rock. I used mostly base rock in my 40g that i started in January and the base rock is covered in coraline and looks just like live rock. I also used a shrimp to cycle instead of fish for the same reason as said above that its cruel. Good Luck with the new tank!
