    Hi everyone.

I just wanted to ask if you guys think I'm ready to get some clowns next week.

I have a 25 gallon tank that has been up for around 6-7 weeks. It cycled within the first 4, but I still haven't added any fish.

I'm getting through my first algae blossom - I have 4 turban snails, and 4 hermits, and an emerald crab. Everyone seems to be doing well, and they're devouring this algae! NICE!

I was concerned about the possibility of copper in my water, (I use distilled), so I bought some poly filter and have had that in place for a couple days (no color changes). My ammonia, nitrates, nitrites all at 0 (even though I have very good algae growth). pH is good, and calcium is right between 450-500.

I'm in absolutely NO rush. (ok... maybe a LITTLE :p) I was wondering if for my first fish getting a pair of clowns would be a good idea. I really only want maybe 4 fish at the very most in this tank. If I get them, it'll be on Monday or Thursday this up coming week.

Any questions / concerns / considerations I should make before getting them? Would a pair of clowns be a good semi-hardy way to start?

    Thanks everyone.

clowns would be a perfect start. a hardy fish, i believe in the damsel family. copper wouldnt hurt the fish. it has bad affects on inverts and corals. id say youre good to go. :)

You should be just fine to start out. What brand of distilled water are you using? I ask this because before I had an RO/DI unit, I used Arrowhead's distilled water. If you go to their website, you can see that they have zero copper in their water. Many water companies will have websites that list solids and metal content of their water products.

I use a cheaper brand from publix. I think it's called "Crystal" or something. I'll check out their page to see what exactly is going on. The poly filter doesn't seem to be changing color, and I guess it'll serve as a protection just in-case.

I'll post pics when I get them. :)
