Thanks to those who helped me with my noobie questions while i was setting this tank up. I thought I'd post some pics from along the way.

Got the 220L tank towards the end of September along with some mollies to help the cycle as recommended by the LFS. Other equipment is just a heater, a powerhead (now 2), and a fluval 405 canister filter.

After a week when ammonia hadn't risen at all I put in some live rock:

A couple of weeks later the ammonia still wasn't going up much.. staying at around .25ppm.. so I bought some uncured live rock on the internet. This was a lot more interesting and brought with it the following odd worms:

While this was interesting to someone who's only had freshwater aquariums in the past and it brought the ammonia up to a more than sufficient level.. it was also stupid. Within a couple of weeks the room absolutely stunk and the water looked like this:

I put up with that for as long as I could (2-3 weeks) before giving up on it and doing a 100% water change. It was around this time that I got my lighting too, a 4" Octopus Horizon T5 unit.
After that, the tank cycled in a week. I left it for another week to be sure, and all the levels still stayed at 0.. so I went and bought my first fish.. a Harlequin Tusk fish. I couldn't pass it up when I saw it in the shop. I also got a blue star fish at the same time.

By this time the algae was starting to boom, so I ordered a cleanup crew from the internet. While there I noticed a "Coral Beginner's Pack" for $40aud ($20-$30usd) so I thought why not. This is what I got:

My starfish really seems to like these ones:

Really likes them.. I pulled him off and an hour later..

Everything was going well 2 weeks later so I decided to go and get some more fish. I ended up buying a pair of tomato clowns and a moorish idol. Unfortunately the Moorish Idol died on the way home :(.
    So as it is today:

My clown fish don't like to sit still enough for photos.. So here's a video:

Nice setup, that Harlequin Tusk fish is a pricy starter fish.

Yeah, but compared to the 2kish I spent on the setup + liverock, $95 for the tusk fish seemed fine. It's a great fish.. a lot of personality (eats out of my hand, spits water at me, etc). I hope it survives my noobishness.

Note that I'm an aussie.. so any dollars I speak about are around 65 us cents :).

You tell me :). The only one it's seemed interested in so far was that one that it's wrapped around in some of the pics. It wasn't touching the soft part of that though, just the rock it's attached to.. I guess eating the algae off it. After pulling it off twice it leaves it alone now and just cruises around the glass.

I thought blue stars were reef safe but after seeing that pic I had to second guess myself.
