Hi this is my first reef tank, its about at 3 months now. My only problems so far is alot of long green algae all over the rocks anyone have advice? I was thinking about just scrubbing it off and maybe corraline will replace it or maybe a clean up crew would be better.

    Reef tanks ftw!

Are you using ro/di? Are you running gfo?

    Welcome to 3Reef BrianJ!

Hydrofeff is correct, a cuc will certainly help you clean up your tank, but it will just come right back if you dont address the cause as well.
it sounds like you probably have too many nutrients in your water. couple of questions to help form a corrective action plan.
    1. how big is the tank, does it have a sump, protein skimmer?
    2. how is it stocked? what, and how often do you feed?
    3. parameters: ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, temp, salinity?
    4. are you using tap water or ro/di?

a great resource to help you design an effective cuc is john froom reefcleaners.org ( he's a 3reef sponsor as well ) reefcleaners.org/custom cuc questionaire

Currently I dont have ro/di machine so I get the distilled from wally world, so far no problems with it. Like I said in my other thread im cutting the lights and scrubbing the rocks. Next week i'll get some more cleaners. The tank is a 20g long, I have a octopus bh-100f skimmer. I do a 20% water change every 2 weeks.
The only reason I can think for all the algae is too much lighting. I was keeping it on 11 hours trying to spread the corraline covered rock, big mistake I guess.

    As for my param
    Temp- 78
    Salinity-1.024
    Nitrate-0 Nitrite-0 Ammonia-0
    Calcium- 480
    Alk- 8dkh
    Lighting- 130 watts pc, 6500/6700k/actinic 420/740nm
1 yellow watchman, 1 scooter blenny, 1 pistol shrimp, 5 blue legged h-crabs.
[The watchman and pistol never paired =(]
