Tank looks good. I like that back wall as well as the rustic look of the stand!

That being said, Def get more live rock (and, I'd slowly phase out the bioballs. I don't think you'll need em once you get plenty of rock in there).

Also, I would stop adding anything (especially anenomes or coral) until you get that ammonia reading down to zero.

Yeah I am not adding anything else, I am getting ready to do a water change to try and bring the ammonia down.

How long does it usually take for the clowns to start hanging out with the anemone? Cause so far they have pretty much ignored it...

I believe it depends, for one thing, on the type of clowns and the type of anemone. Also, if the clowns are tank raised then it can be even more of a "who knows" type answer.

I just put an anemone in my tank last week. So far it's getting the stare down from time to time from the clowns, but nothing other than that. Yet. :)

First I would continue researching a lot more. My best piece of advice, dont buy anything unless u have researched it ahead of time. This applies to corals, lights, fish, anythign and everything. Secondly, I am pretty sure that is a condylactis anenome (may be a long tentacle anenome) but im pretty sure its a condy as I have one also. Your clowns will very likely not host it. They come from different parts of the world in addition to apparently condys are more aggressive than some other anenomes. I have had a pair of clowns for quite some time now and they have never even attempted to get near the anenome.

Nice set up...I would really invest in a lot more live rock as well a phosban reactor(for your corals)..your tank may be stable..but the more livestock you put in..the more bio(live rock)your gonna need to keep it stable.Once you have a sufficient amount of live rock...I'd toss the bio balls...live rock does the job way better and naturally.Good luck!!

Thanks for the response! But I actually think the anemone is a Haitian Pink Tip Anemone, or Giant Caribbean Sea Anemone (Condylactis gigantea) and believe it or not I did do lots of reading on it, as well as talk at length to the pet store owner I purchased it from. They had clowns in the same tank that were hosted so I am sure in the end it will work itself out.

As far as the rock goes, I do in fact intend to buy some more, just doing it a little at a time. I did a water change last night and brought my nitrates back down, I will monitor the water parameters and do another water change if I have to, until I can fill up with more rocks.

Thanks for all the replies, I know I have a long way to go and I value all the advice you guys are giving me.

Last night I set my old 55g tank back up, just need to add more salt. I plan on moving the fish from my new reef tank back into the old 55g for a while until I can get more live rock built up and get my nitrates back down all the way to 0ppm. Also contacted ReefCleaners.org to have them put together a custom CUC for me, hopefully that will help.

Last night I got my fish moved over to my old 55g tank. Also did another water change on my Reef tank. Picked up some more LR and stuck it into the fuge. Tested my Ammonia this morning and it is at 5-10ppm. I guess I will have to wait and see if moving the fish out of there helped. I will try and pick up some more LR today. Working on a RO/DI system to start using for my water changes, I know that is gonna help. My city water is pretty good, but not as good as RO/DI water.

Not sure if anyone is following this anymore, gonna keep updating as I find the time.

Today I went to my LFS and bought about 50lbs of dried cured live rock. So far with what is already in my tank that makes about 75lbs of rock, that should be good yeah? I will add more eventually anyway as I want to build the rock display up closer to the top of the tank.

I found that the Styrofoam rock background I am using was very helpful during my aqua-landscaping, having it on the back instead of just smooth glass made it much easier to prop the rock up and keep it in a desired position.

My wife doesn't like the look of all the rock in my DP, I told her it will grow on her once I cover it with corals.
