First Round (Aiptasia 1, Me 0)

Well guys im back with the standings after the first round of the fight against my aiptasia problem.

It seems that the shot of kalk didnt do anything to these little buggers. Im thinking of looking for some Joes Juice as well as...eventually getting some peppermint shrimps hah.

Yuck! :-/ I had that stuff growing in my refugium on my cheato. Man that stuff grows fast. Good luck in your fight!

If you can get peppermints fairly quickly I would make these guys my first priority before going for the "juices". JMHO

tried calkwasser myself... only made them madd. Got pepermint shrimp... they eat everything else. Got joes juice... messed em up! I have heard they may come back with vengeance but that joes stuff shut them down immediately. Probably not good to get any on coral though. good luck

 

I just got done (AGAIN) shooting down a pretty big aiptasia infestation. I'm definitely going to make my next investment some peppermint shrimpies. Joes Juice is always what I use. I think now that I took care of most of them, especially the big ones, the shrimps will help keep it in check. I truly hate aiptasia!

 

Well im back from the store! I got a nice little brigade of 5 peppermint shrimp...unlucky start for them they all decided to swim right into my BTA...haha...lucky it wasnt hungry i brushed them outa there fast. TIME TO DIE AIPTASIA!

 

In My little world.

I had a battle with Aiptasia with my wife's mother's tank. She went and bought some live rock since she liked how my setup looked. She called me one day and told me that I should come look at her tank because she had annalids that were breeding like it was the end of times. When i got to her house I started laughing. Her tank was growing Aiptasia like it was profitable. I told her to go and buy some peppermint shrimp and that would fix the problem. I went back a week later and she had some shrimp from the LFS that she had been told were peppermints. However the were camelbacks i believe. I called my fish guy and he provided 2 true peppermints for her at no cost. She now has a wonderful tank looking beautiful. I have never used anything other than my peppermints to take care of aiptasia. but hey maybe i am just lucky.
