Hi to all fellow 3Reefers, I have been browsing on here for about a month while starting up my first tank. I wanted to introduce myself and tank. I'm Robert and just moves back to south Florida after graduating from Florida State University in April. Have always wanted to start a SW tank but never had the time or money. Finally got a chance to start one and decided to start out small. Friend gave me a 10 gal tank and a Penguin hang on filter that he started with. Added 20lbs of live instant cycling (BS ) sand and 10 lbs of live rock at the beginning of May. Added a few damsels after about a week, wish my LFS would have not convinced me it was time already and to get more that one, and I caught a filefish in river while I was cast-netting for bait while snook fishing so brought him home. I think the filefish and poor water quality were the culprits of 2 of the dead damsels. Since then the filefish and damsel have been doing well together. About a month ago added sponge crab, couldn't resist looked too cool at the store. Sponge crab just molted over the weekend and just started moving around again last night. Had the normal trouble with algae and have been doing biweekly 20% water changes and have been doing pretty good since. Here are some pics of my tank and fish.

nice looking setup hope you are ready for an upgrade in size already as that file fish will outgrow your tank very quickly (warning) as they can get quite large

The sponge crab is sleeping so couldn't get a pic. This is great hobby and can't wait till I get into my new place so can get a much bigger tank 75-100 gal i think.

They are across the board ,as far as, size is concerned. Be careful of corals/inverts though. Pretty cool looking tank IRB.

Thanks, yeah been watching the crab with the corals but crab usually only comes out at night. Have seen him on top of the coral a couple of times but doesn't seem to be eating it, but does like to knock the corals off the rock. Was thinkings about getting some moon LEDs, any thoughts on which are best?

Also had a question on why all the hair algea seems to just grow on one rock. There are other rocks that as close if not closer to the lights. Besides the Mex turbo snail and 2 nassarius snails what should I get to control algea growth? Lawnmower, urchin, ect?

hopefully what you have is actualy ha not bryopsys they look very similure but the bryopsys will look like tiny fans on the stringy hair stem and is near impossible to kill without drastic measures

turbos should eat the hair algae other than that a lawnmower blenny and some hermit crabs should keep it under controle

Very, very nice looking tank there my friend!!! ;D

Monitor those water params closely and you should have few problems...

Keep up those regular water changes.l.. you may need to increase frequency and amount for bioload you are considering.

    Good Luck.

    Have fun.

    Enjoy!!! ;D
