    Hi,

This is the first sump I will build and I would like your opinion about it.

    Sump.jpg

The tank will send water into the Intake section, my Skimmer will be into the Intake Area and will send his water into the refugium. The refugium will send water to the return area by using the bubble trap baffles. I will also add a UV sterilizers into the return area.

Over the refugium, 2 X Phosban reactor (1st with Carbon, 2nd with Phosban) will be connected in daisy chain and the last reactor will send the water into the refugium. The reactor wont be directly into the water, they will be on a stand in case or any water leak.

The Skimmer and the Reactor pump will be into the Intake Area.

    Total Tank: 24X12X16 = 20G
    Intake Area: 9X12X14 = 6.5G
    Refugium: 6X12X10 = 3.2G
    Return Zone: 6X12X10 = 3.2G

Please let me know your comment as its my first sump and I want to make it right [IMG] Thanks!

    Seb

How big is the DT? I feel that this may be a bit small. I have a seperate tank for my refugium. How will you fit all of your equipment into 6.2 gallons (with part of it being used for the intake). Just a couple things to consider

My tanks is a 55 gallon and the sump is a 20 gallon. Sorry in my description I have put tank 20 gallon but I mean the sump is a 20 gallon.

Only the Skimmer and 2 pump will really be into the Intake Area, the 2 reactor will be on a stand not into the area but over it. This is in case of leak from them it will leak into the sump not the floor.

I agree, that is a lot of equipment in your sump. Is there any possiblity of a bigger tank for the sump? I like the plans so far as it's very close to what I am running.

I've had a hard time with the chaeto while running carbon and GFO. It seems to die off every few months....just an FYI. Apparently this is common.
