Ok, hopfully I will be able to be up and running within a couple of months. I have a 110 gal tank with the nice wood stand, and canopy with VHO and MH lighting. I WANTED to do a 40 gallon tank for my refugium, BUT, just bought it and it does not fit. So, I have a backup refugium 20gal long tank. I need to know, by the time I place the baffles, will this refugium be big enough? I have to replace the baffles with glass first, but just trying to get the best idea.

Please share any comments positive you might have for my new adventure.

    Thanks

i would use a 29 long if you can. bigger is alway a better thing with a sump/fuge.

i used a 20 gallon long on my 125 gallon. I ended up putting 2 bubble traps in at first, but decided to get rid of the second one and just use a single bubble trap on the overflow side the the sump then an open chamber for the rest of it, that houses a pump for the UV sterilizer, 2 return pumps, and a protein skimmer.

a 30 is as long and tall as a 40 breeder, just narrower. Easier to get under a stand. I usually drop in my sumps first through the top before the tank is in place.

That's all water under the bridge. Any refugium is a beneficial. Make it as big as you can and it will have a positive result

there really is no minimum just whatever you can get for extra water volume will help. within reason anyways.
