first time sump install.. help?

Just upgraded to a 75 gal tank w/ corner overflow, sump etc.- setting it up today, but having never installed one im a bit confused. anyone have a decent basic sump diagram for me to work off of? i also cant figure out which pump was the main pump and which was the "auxilary". i also worry about how to stop the water from draining down towards the sump through the pvc if a power outage occurred (knock on wood). snowed in here in in cincinnati and would really like to get all up and running today. any help/advice is appriciated. thanks..
