First Water Change?

    my tank is 5 weeks old today and i was wondering when i should do the first water change? No livestock yet and just started the light cycle and filtering?;)

    Wait tell nitrates drop to 0. There is bacteria cabable of processing nitrates. You just have to give it time to establish itself.

    my tank is now a little over six weeks old and is going through the first algae bloom. There is brown diatoms and green "fern like" algae on the glass. Should i wait for this bloom to be over before a water change or will this matter?
