Has anyone ever bought fish Online through websites such as Saltwaterfish.com or other Online stores? Is it a good idea, or should I just buy from a LFS?

I haven't heard much good about saltwaterfish but there are a lot of good ones out there. Live Aquaria, Blue Zoo come to mind as decent ones. Vivid Aquariums is another with excellent customer service. So yes buying online is OK. Just give your LFS the first shot if they carry good quality stock. They should be willing to order a fish for you. If they can't then go online.

I buy a lot of livestock online. I personally would stay away from saltwaterfish.com. But thats just the experience Ive had with livestock.

Alot of people like to see the fish before they buy it, eating habits and what not.

Suggestions for livestock sites from me would be:
    LiveAquaria.com
    Bluezooaquatics.com
    VividAqauriums.com

And Most of our 3reef sponsors are great.

Our local LFS is limited to what they get and can order so. Ive done most of my shopping online.

In the last couple of years I've bought from Bluezoo and Diver's Den. Have't bought from Liveaquaria so I can't speak of their stock, but I know there customer care will be solid.

Isn't your LFS Drs. Foster and Smith?

Lots of people buy live stock online without issue. I haven't bought a fish online but I do buy my cleaners from reefcleaners.org, and I have bought mantis shrimp online.

liveaquaria.com seems to be the most popular, and I haven't heard many bad experiences with them.

*cough* They are still an hour + away... one way. Lol so its not quite Local.

But I do go there alot... Going there the 13th :).

But as mentioned above. if you can get it from your LFS and their livestock is healthy and prices arent bad. Go there.

:D I personally like adding to my styrofoam igloo :).
