Hey guys, I've been having some trouble with my 20g fresh water tank. Ive had 3 fish die already from what it looks to be the inability to close their mouth?

Im not sure what might be wrong. any ideas?

One day they are ok, then they can't close their mouth, then it looks as if their mouth erodes away, then they just die. ( in a matter of a week or so)

    Just a few guesses:

    • Maybe some sort of parasitic isopod attaching inside the fishes mouth?
    • Maybe something similar to head or lateral line erosion - generally caused by stray voltage in the tank?

I had this problem for a bit, I believe it was caused by a bacteria growing in the mouth which took over, kinda like a sponge and suffocated them.

I treated with pimafix and melafix and didn't have any further problems
