Well I had a 55 gallon reef that I was setting up, but the expense I am looking at to get it done was just too much. I ended up splitting it up into two smaller, more manageable tanks. Now I have an empty 55 gallon tank. I would like a "show fish." I am basically looking to put one fair size fish(or eel, invert., etc.) in it. If you guys can think of anything cool, let me know. (Saltwater or freshwater)

How about a dwarf lion fish, that would be pretty sweet.

If their legal in your area . . . black diamond rhom (piranha). Get one at around 8-9" or so and it would be 3-4 years before it would need to be upgraded to a 75.

To me, the obvious answer is a Clown Trigger, but, since you are strapped for cash, it is probably out of the question.

Eh. I like lionfish, but it will be quite a while before a dwarf lion ships into the lfs. I could get a russell's or a volitan's. But I think there is a different fish for me out there somewhere.

It's not that I am strapped for cash. I can pay 400 bucks for a fish or whatever. The problem with the reef is that I was looking at about $2000 for my dream.

$400 around me buys a complete 55 reef setup all day on craigslist . . . you just gotta know enough about equipment to filter the garbage from the real deals.

Go with a snowflake eel and a volitan lionfish they are much hardier then the dwarfs.

I love the clown triggers that would be sweeeete

That would also be sick but pretty sure there not legal any where in the us

Theres always online stores, any other lion would out grow a 55 extremely fast
That tank is not big enough for either let alone one of those fish, also dwarfs are extremely hardy under the right conditions
